The Sri Lanka Parliamentarians Forum for Evaluation (SLPFE[ARLK1] ) was launched in Oct 2016 by a group of parliamentarians.

SLPFE together with the Parliament is currently working on institutionalization of evaluation as follows within the parliament in line with the Colombo Declaration signed in 2018.

  1. Establishing a Parliament Select Committee on Evaluation (SCE) which is in process.
  2. Bill on Evaluation. Stakeholder consultation for the draft bill is ongoing.  
  3. Strengthen the Parliament Research Unit (PRU) to provide brief evaluation evidence to members of parliament. A series of weekly training has been implemented. 
  4. The Center for Evaluation, University of Sri Jayewardenepura in collaboration with the parliament is starting an initiative to strengthen other universities to orient legislators and policy makers to use evidence for decision making. 

The Launch of the National Evaluation Policy of Sri Lanka

The Hon. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe hosted the delegates of EvalColombo2018 at the Temple Trees; his official residence where the National Evaluation Policy of Sri Lanka was launched. Joining the few countries in the world that has a National Policy on Evaluation, Sri Lanka is the first country in the South Asian region to introduce a National Evaluation Policy. With the blessings of His Excellency, the Department of Project Management and Monitoring is in the process of developing a strategic framework to implement this policy.
